  • Traditional cultural activities like rice cake-making and folk games
  • Promotion across 61 traditional markets in Seoul
  • Temporary parking support and safety inspections
The promotion encompasses 61 traditional open-air markets and neighborhood shopping districts across Seoul. Shoppers can find price reductions on various goods, including holiday foods, agricultural products, and seafood. In collaboration with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the city also offers refunds of up to 30 percent through Onnuri gift certificates at participating seafood and agricultural markets. At 42 of the 61 markets, an additional 30 percent cash-back in Onnuri gift certificates can be earned, potentially allowing for combined discounts and refunds nearing 60 percent depending on the market and purchase amount.

Beyond shopping, the promotion integrates traditional holiday activities to create a festive atmosphere. These include traditional Korean games, hands-on half-moon-shaped rice cake (songpyeon) making, dumpling workshops, raffles, and various performances like classical music. Specific markets such as Dogok Market in Gangnam District host traditional games, while Gopundari Traditional Market features a customer talent show, and Hwagok Jungang Market offers a dumpling-making activity. Daemyung Yeoulbit Street provides rice cake-making and face-painting, and Tongin Market holds a raffle with prizes including gift certificates.

To manage the anticipated increase in visitors, the city has implemented supporting measures. Temporary parking allowances are available at 73 traditional markets through September 27. Additionally, electrical, gas, and fire-safety inspections are being conducted at 254 traditional markets, and support personnel are planned for deployment during expected crowd periods to ensure a safe and convenient environment.
