Traces of Seoul

Running from mid-August through early November 2026, Traces of Seoul presents a contemporary look at the evolving metropolitan landscape of South Korea's capital. Located on the eighth floor of Seoul City Hall at the Sky Plaza Gallery, the exhibition was chosen as one of three winning proposals for the venue's annual artist selection program. The gallery space offers the public free access to visual arts overlooking the heart of the city.

Artist Chang Eun-woo utilizes traditional hanji (handmade paper) to create layered compositions that symbolize the accumulation of memories and human connections within the city's architecture. The works specifically highlight quiet, familiar spaces like narrow neighborhood streets that are increasingly disappearing due to modern urban redevelopment. Chang’s approach has previously been recognized with honors from the Danwon Art Festival and the E-Land Cultural Foundation.

In addition to the static display, the event features interactive community workshops scheduled for October 14 and 21. During these 60-minute sessions, participants can learn the East Asian "moving perspective" painting method to create their own artistic interpretations of Seoul’s scenery on fabric screens. These workshops require a small fee and offer limited spots for participants to engage directly with the themes of the exhibition.
