Jeck im Sunnesching

The Jeck im Sunnesching festival is a vibrant event that transplants the energetic atmosphere of Cologne carnival, complete with characteristic music and costumes, into a summer setting. It originated in Cologne in 2015 as a pub and street festival celebrating "Kölsch" music and has since expanded to become one of the largest summer festivals dedicated to this genre, regularly held in various cities including Cologne, Bonn, Aachen, and St Vith in Belgium.

On September 6, 2026, Jeck im Sunnesching held its inaugural event in Luxembourg, specifically in Stadtbredimus along the banks of the Moselle. The festival showcased well-known groups from the Cologne carnival scene, such as Höhner and Räuber, drawing many visitors who embraced the theme by attending in costume. Organizers noted that the appeal lies in both the popular bands and the unique concept of bringing the traditional winter carnival revelry into the summer months.

Following its successful premiere, organizers plan to review the event's reception with local Moselle associations, with a second edition in Luxembourg already being considered as a possibility.
