Culture Commons Festival

Taking place from September 25 to 27, the Culture Commons Festival brings together various cultural expressions in Eureka, Humboldt County. Attendees can experience a wide range of activities including music, dance, art, film screenings, storytelling sessions, and interactive workshops.

The event features specific highlights such as West African and Aztec dance at Madaket Plaza, Lao dancers at the county library, and performances by Humboldt Taiko drummers and Capoeira Azania. A maker's fair with acoustic music and blacksmithing is hosted at Blue Ox Millworks. Saturday evening includes fire dancers at the intersection of Second and F Street. Sunday's programming includes a Stories of Wigi celebration at the Wiyot Tribe’s Da Gou Rou Louwi’ Cultural Center, short films by North Coast filmmakers at the Eureka Theater, and an evening of square dancing and swing to conclude the weekend. The festival also provides multiple kids' play spaces and diverse food vendors, including those curated by Black Humboldt.

Organized by the Eureka Cultural Arts District—a partnership involving the Wiyot Tribe, the Ink People Center for Arts and Culture, Eureka Main Street, and the City of Eureka—the festival is expected to attract 5,000 to 10,000 people. Its core mission is to promote shared human experience through cultural expression and highlight Eureka's waterfront.
