The Borneo Animation and Games Festival (BAGFEST) 2026 is poised to be one of Southeast Asia’s largest gatherings for the animation, games, and digital content industries. Held in Kuching, Malaysia, from August 19 to 23, 2026, the festival is a collaborative effort between the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC).

BAGFEST 2026 aims to foster new opportunities for original intellectual property (IP) development, investment, business partnerships, talent development, and access to international markets. The programme is designed for both industry engagement and public participation, featuring an international conference with over 30 renowned international and Malaysian speakers, business matching, technical workshops, an exhibition with more than 50 exhibitors, and animation film screenings. Public attractions include BAGFEST Con and a two-day MYFutureJobs Metaverse Career Fair.

Participants will include industry buyers, investors, publishers, studios, and creative professionals, positioning Sarawak as a regional gateway for the creative technology sector. The official opening ceremony on August 21 is expected to be attended by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and Malaysia’s Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo.
