Sharannavaratri celebrations

The festivities commence on October 5 with purification rituals, followed by the ceremonial assembling of the Golden Throne. On October 11, the Simha (lion emblem) is fixed to the Golden Throne, followed by Kankana Dharane and the ascending of the throne. The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari is then brought from Chamundi Thotti to Kannadi Thotti for special pujas that continue until Vijayadashami.

Throughout the celebration period, specific rituals are observed, including Saraswati Puja on October 16, an evening Durbar on October 17, Durgashtami Puja rituals on October 18, and Mahanavami Puja on October 20. Mahanavami commences with a Chandi Homa, a procession of Royal weapons, and an Ayudha Puja at the Kalyana Mantapa. This day also features Durbar, Simha Visarjane, and pujas to the Royal Elephant, Horse, Cow, Camel, and vehicles at Savari Thotti.

The Sharannavaratri celebrations conclude on October 21, Vijayadashami, with the Uttara Puja, Vajramusti Kalaga, a Vijaya Yatra, and Shammi Puja. Following these events, the Kankana is removed, and the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari is shifted back to Chamundi Thotti, marking the official completion of the Sharannavaratri observances.
