Limerick Jazz Festival

The Limerick Jazz Festival, a well-established fixture on Limerick’s cultural calendar, runs for five days, opening on a Wednesday and concluding on Sunday afternoon. The festival is dedicated to marking John Coltrane's centenary, featuring a full performance of his landmark suite 'A Love Supreme' by leading Irish jazz musicians at Dolan’s Upstairs to kick off the event.

Throughout the festival, attendees can experience a variety of acts, including international collaborations like 'Conversation_LAB' featuring Swiss drummer Florian Arbenz, Portuguese accordion player Joāo Barradas, and French bassist François Moutin. Friday offers a double bill with guitarist Tom Ollendorff at the Belltable, and Cork-born pianist John Donegan with his trio at Dolan’s Upstairs. Other notable performances include Shadowlands, blending traditional Irish song with contemporary improvisation, and pianist Elliot Galvin.

The festival culminates on Sunday afternoon with a joint performance from the Zoë Gilby Quartet and the Tommy Halferty Quartet at Dolan’s Upstairs. Zoë Gilby, a vocalist and songwriter, is known for her jazz standards and reinterpretations of songs by artists like Kate Bush and Pink Floyd.
