MusicTown 2026 – A Celebration of Philip Lynott

A central feature of the festival is the "Old Town" concert at the National Concert Hall on October 1. Performing Lynott's solo material and Thin Lizzy hits, the ensemble Glasshouse will be joined by a lineup of contemporary Irish vocalists including SexyTadhg, Iona Lynch, Toshín, and Paddy Hanna. The performance aims to provide an interpretative reflection on Lynott's musical evolution from his early solo albums to his international rock success.

The educational and cultural program includes a series of panels such as "Young, Gifted, Gorm & Gaelach," where author Emma Dabiri and poet Maureen Onwunali discuss Lynott’s influence as a Black Irish artist. Another session, "A Vagabond of the Western World," features artist Jim Fitzpatrick and musician Eamon Carr sharing personal insights into Philip's early creative years in 1960s Dublin.

Fans also have the rare opportunity to hear unreleased material during a dedicated listening session at the National Concert Hall's Kevin Barry Room. This event showcases home studio tapes and previously unheard 24-track recordings. Additionally, a photography exhibition at Studio 10 on Wicklow Street presents both professional portraits and candid family photos, offering an intimate look at the musician's life from October 1 to October 4.
