Established in 2005 by Independent Cllr Joe Bonner, the Community Recycling Event provides a convenient and affordable way for families to tidy their homes. This event is part of a series held twice annually, in April and September, which has collectively processed over 3,070 tonnes of material for recycling and recovery across Meath East over the past two decades.

On September 19, 2026, the event will run from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Accepted items include bulky household waste (for a modest charge), electrical goods, white goods, batteries, and confidential documents for shredding. There is no charge for the disposal of white goods or any item with a plug. Please note that paint will not be accepted. To mark its 21st anniversary, there will also be a free draw for all participants.
