Book exhibition: "July 22 – National Press and Journalism Day"

Organized by the Azerbaijan National Library, this exhibition titled "July 22 – National Press and Journalism Day" presents a comprehensive look at the evolution of the country's media. The display includes a variety of works by Hasan bey Zardabi, who is recognized as the founder of the national press, alongside diverse publications detailing the development of local journalism. Visitors can explore archival photographs, periodicals, and books in multiple languages that highlight the contributions of prominent Azerbaijani intellectuals.

The event specifically commemorates the July 22, 1875, publication of Akinchi (The Cultivator), which was the first newspaper printed in the Azerbaijani language. Although it only operated for two years, the paper established a foundation for national enlightenment and social reform. The exhibition uses both traditional and digital formats to make these historical records accessible to a wider audience.

National Press Day has been officially observed in Azerbaijan since 1991. The library's exhibition serves as a focal point for the annual celebrations, which include conferences and awards across the country to recognize the ongoing role of media professionals in shaping public and cultural life.
