9th Yerevan International Short Film Festival

The Yerevan International Short Film Festival returns for its ninth edition, significantly expanding its reach within Armenia. While traditionally centered in the capital, the 2026 event includes screenings and activities in Gyumri as part of a state effort toward cultural decentralization. The festival serves as a platform for emerging filmmakers to present their work to international audiences and engage in professional networking.

The program includes diverse educational and professional components such as master classes, round tables, experience-sharing sessions, and creative meetings. This edition marks a notable increase in international participation, with submissions received from 95 countries. The festival opened at the Cinema House with a screening of the Iranian film "Haze Over," directed by Seyed Ali Ghasemi.

Supported by the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, with the Yerevan City Hall as the main sponsor, the event emphasizes the commercialization and global reach of the local film industry. In a commitment to public accessibility, admission to all festival screenings and educational events is free of charge.
