The 2026 Eh Do Paw Mi or Diku Traditional Festival, a prominent traditional festival for the Kayah ethnic people, commenced in the morning with an opening ceremony. Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Than Maung formally opened the event by beating a ceremonial frog drum, followed by remarks from the Kayah State Chief Minister and a presentation of cash assistance for the festival.

The festival's purpose and significance were explained by the Secretary of the Kayah Literature and Culture Association, Dr. Saw Thae Yal. The event featured performances of traditional ethnic dances, with Union and State officials presenting awards to the performing groups. A communal gathering and feast was held, where guests enjoyed traditional Kayah dishes such as Diku sticky rice wraps, rice wine, and Kayah pork sausage. Over 1,000 people, including members of various ethnic literature and culture associations and dance troupes, happily participated.
