Hattori Foot Festival

The Hattori Foot Festival is a two-day traditional event that combines ancient rituals with modern foot-health experiences, held at the Hattori Tenjingu Shrine in Osaka. This shrine, dedicated to the 'God of Feet', has a history spanning over a millennium, stemming from the legend of scholar Sugawara no Michizane, who is said to have recovered from a foot ailment after praying there.

During the festival, visitors can engage in various activities such as a purification ceremony using salt and sacred water, and a dedicated 'Prayer for Healthy Legs'. The event also includes 'Healthy Legs Experience booths' where attendees can try single-toothed geta sandals, have their feet measured, and learn about products for better posture. Other distinctive features include a foot-themed quiz rally, a 'Path of the Foot God' experience involving crawling under oversized wooden geta, and the 'Geta Corridor', which displays approximately 340 wooden clogs, including a two-meter giant geta where wishes can be hung.

Open from 9:00 to 17:00, the festival welcomes all, with sportswear encouraged for runners and athletes. Hattori Tenjingu Shrine is conveniently located just a two-minute walk from Hattori Tenjin Station on the Hankyu Railway's Takarazuka Main Line.
