19th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2026

Organized as a premier platform for non-fiction films, the 19th MIFF took place over seven days in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The festival featured competitive sections for international and national productions, emphasizing its evolution into a significant global movement for cultural diversity and artistic excellence. The closing ceremony, held at the Ravindra Natya Mandir, was attended by dignitaries including the Governor of Maharashtra and representatives from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

In the International Competition section, the prestigious Golden Conch for Best Documentary was awarded to the Polish film 'Silver'. Other international honors included 'Maya’s Song' for animation and 'Under the Snow' for short fiction. In the national category, 'Waai' won the Silver Conch for Best Documentary Film, while 'Armstrong from Angalamman Kovil Street' and 'Small Clouds' were recognized for animation and short fiction, respectively.

Beyond the screenings, the festival highlighted the role of cinema in addressing social issues and the importance of inclusive storytelling, particularly from rural and tribal communities. Discussions during the event also addressed the future of the film industry, specifically the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence and the necessity of protecting intellectual property rights for creators.
