K’ómoks Fusion Arts Festival

The K’ómoks Fusion Arts Festival is an annual three-day Indigenous cultural event held at the heritage site of Filberg Park in the Comox Valley, British Columbia. Scheduled for September 25-27, 2026, this fourth annual iteration is designed to run parallel to the Filberg Festival, offering a significant Indigenous perspective and experience for the region.

Organized by the Queneesh Indigenous Community Society (QICS), the festival is inclusive and open to the public and all Indigenous peoples. It focuses on cultural sharing through a variety of activities, including stories, art, and music. Highlights include a Master Artists’ Circle and the First Credit Union Music Stage, which will feature cultural dance groups and musical acts such as Greg Wells, DJ Hanson, and the James Vickers Band. Attendees can also enjoy a sockeye salmon BBQ with bannock bread, explore food trucks, and participate in traditional food workshops. Notable artists like Bruce Alfred, Corrine Hunt, and Winadzi James are also slated to participate.

More than just a celebration of arts, the festival aims to be an Indigenous destination event, recognizing the growing segment of Indigenous tourism. It seeks to re-establish cultural ties and honour the cultural significance of the Comox Valley, fostering reconciliation through positive community engagement and impact, which the Queneesh define as the restoration of friendly relations. The event has previously received financial assistance from the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD).
