Carthaginians and Romans Festival

The festival features a diverse program of events that bring ancient history to life on the streets of Cartagena. Key highlights include dramatic historical reenactments such as the Battle of Cuesta Batel on September 25 and a grand pyrotechnic display to conclude the festivities on September 27. The city also hosts a dedicated Festival Camp, which serves as a central hub for participants and visitors throughout the ten-day period.

In addition to historical themes, the 2026 edition includes a significant musical lineup with concerts from September 24 to 27 at the La Rambla Shopping Centre esplanade. Featured artists include Camela, Siloé, and Carlos Ares. The event also incorporates sporting competitions, such as the 9th City of Cartagena Waterpolo Tournament involving teams from across Spain, as well as guided tours and live flamenco performances.

Extensive logistical planning by the City Council involves city-wide traffic restrictions and parking prohibitions to accommodate parades and ensure public safety. Key areas affected include the Port area, Avenida del Cantón, and streets surrounding the Festival Camp. Dedicated parking alternatives are provided at the old Festival Camp site and the Shopping La Rambla commercial center, with temporary taxi ranks established near the Cartagonova Stadium.
