A Blooming Affair

This annual event, launched in 2010, celebrates the beauty of nature and human creativity, inspiring visitors with breathtaking floral displays and a curated selection of artisanal goods. Attendees can explore a plant market offering roses, herbs, and gardening essentials, enjoy diverse food and drinks from market stalls, or relax in the Tea Garden with afternoon tea and cake. Complimentary guided garden tours are also available, led by landscaper Heather Mansour.

For families, a dedicated and supervised play space provides fun and engaging craft activities for children. Concurrently with the market, the Roedean Art Fair is held, showcasing creative spaces, art installations by students, opportunities to discover new artists, and art talks. Live music performances by the school’s top talent further enhance the atmosphere.

A Blooming Affair takes place at Roedean School (SA) – Gymnasium, located at 35 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown, Johannesburg. The event is part of the Gardens of the Golden City initiative, which helps raise funds for various charities, and specifically supports the Roedean Academy, providing educational assistance to scholars from underprivileged schools.
