San Diego Tijuana International Jazz Festival

This cross-border event is designed to unite international communities through the medium of jazz. The 2026 schedule includes four concerts: two located in downtown Tijuana, one in downtown San Diego, and one indoor performance in Escondido. The lineup typically features a mix of global talent, including multiple Grammy Award winners, and regional performers from both sides of the border.

Educational engagement is a core component of the festival, with master musicians providing mentorship to student ensembles such as the San Diego State University Jazz Ensemble and the Ensenada-based La Covacha Big Band. Musical themes often highlight the intersection of jazz with other genres like rap and son jarocho, as well as historical connections such as Charles Mingus's artistic ties to Tijuana.

While three of the four main concerts are free to attend, the performance at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido requires a paid ticket. This specific venue also offers an optional festival dinner experience for an additional charge, featuring regional cuisine. The event is a collaboration between San Diego Jazz Ventures and the founders of the Tijuana Blues & Jazz Festival.
