Songs by the River

Founded by chorale member Sara Duggin, Songs by the River was established to revive solo chorale events that benefit the Spokane Symphony and provide more performance opportunities for the talented group. The event aims to recreate a "salon-like" experience, drawing inspiration from classic European salon concerts by hosting performances in a private residence rather than a traditional concert hall.

This unique setting allows for close and personal interaction between the audience and the performers, emphasizing atmosphere and intimacy. Spokane Symphony Chorale members volunteer their time and talent, performing solo or in small groups with song selections of their own choice, which results in an eclectic mix of musical pieces. This allows the chorale members to showcase their individual skills beyond their collective performances at venues like the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox.

While seeking to slightly expand its capacity for this second year, the event maintains its signature intimate setting, ensuring the audience remains close to the performers. The inaugural event was held by the Spokane River in Peaceful Valley.
