Dia de los Muertos celebration

As part of its fifth season of the Family Live Arts Cultural Series, the PAC Center presents a vibrant exploration of Mexican traditions. The event features a performance by Danza Folclórica Tonantzin, a children’s folkloric dance group that showcases the cultural diversity of various Mexican regions through traditional costumes and choreography. Musician and artist Victoria Juárez will also perform iconic songs using the jarana jarocha, a traditional eight-stringed instrument.

Designed for families with children aged 2 to 12, the celebration includes interactive elements such as food tastings, crafts, and other educational activities. The program aims to foster an appreciation for diversity and help younger generations understand the significance of the Day of the Dead, a holiday traditionally held to honor and welcome the souls of deceased loved ones.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the community center in Swarthmore. Admission is organized on a pay-what-you-wish basis, with suggested donations for families or individuals to support continued community cultural programming.
