Coltrane 100 Philadelphia

The "Coltrane 100 Philadelphia" celebration honors the 100th birthday of influential jazz figure John Coltrane with events scheduled from September 21 to November 11, 2026. The festivities begin with a 26-hour music marathon on WRTI (90.1 FM) starting midnight on September 23, extending to 2 a.m. on September 24, featuring a spectrum of his music and live broadcasts from Mother Bethel AME Church.

A central component of the celebration is a multi-day "daylong fest" at Philadelphia’s Love Park, running from noon to 2 p.m. between September 21 and 25. This includes listening parties, a photo wall, giveaways, and the "Trans Tracks" game. On September 23, Love Park hosts a special 4 to 7:30 p.m. celebration with a two-hour listening party and a 90-minute concert featuring Jaleel Shaw, Alex Claffey, and Jeff “Tain” Watts. All events at Love Park are free.

Additional notable events include a "Pitchblack Premier" deep-listening session at Percy’s Sound Lounge on September 22, and a free screening of the documentary "Chasing Coltrane" at the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts on September 23. A concert with Isaiah Collier and The Chosen Few will be held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on September 25, followed by Kirk and Kevin Whalum's tribute concert at the Highmark Mann Center on September 30.
