The Kennett Juneteenth celebration is a collaborative community event designed to honor Emancipation Day and highlight African American history. Organized by local coordinators from the Kennett Underground Railroad Center (KURC), MLK CommUnity, and KACS, the celebration utilizes the entire Kennett Library facility to foster education and community unity.

The event program begins in the morning with an opening prayer and a gospel choir performance. Throughout the day, attendees can explore goods and information from 32 local vendors. Dedicated children's activities include storytelling sessions with author Bettinita Harris, arts and crafts at the Children's Freedom Village, face painting, and double Dutch jump rope.

Historical education is a focal point of the event, highlighted by the presence of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, which demonstrates the vital role of Black soldiers during the Civil War. Additional entertainment features a performance by stilt walker and dancer Mafalda Thomas-Bouse accompanied by live African drumming. Food trucks and complimentary water ice are also available for attendees.
