Fabric of life: Jeanette Floyd Solo Exhibition

The "Fabric of Life: Jeanette Floyd Solo Exhibition" features the work of award-winning California textile artist Jeanette Floyd. The exhibit is hosted by The Black Heritage Gallery, located on the second floor of Historic City Hall Arts and Cultural Center at 1001 Ryan St. in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It opened on August 8, 2026, and will continue through September 25, 2026.

Floyd, an Orange County, California, resident, has spent nearly three decades establishing herself as an artist, lecturer, and advocate for textile art. Her solo exhibition centers on the theme of healing through quilting, a practice that became the cornerstone of her work. Her journey into serious quilting began in 2015, inspired by her husband's recovery from cancer and her subsequent involvement with the Beach Cities Quilters Guild, where she transitioned from making functional blankets to creating intricate art quilts.

The exhibition showcases numerous quilts, each featuring distinct designs and individual meanings. The Black Heritage Gallery is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, offering an opportunity to explore Floyd's transformative textile creations.
