Sabores Sobre Ruedas

Sabores Sobre Ruedas, or Flavors on Wheels, is an annual free festival that celebrates Hispanic food and culture, organized by Spanish-speaking students and staff at Oak Lawn Community High School. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It takes place in the student parking lot at 9400 Southwest Highway in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

The festival aims to provide an opportunity for students to share and learn about their heritage, while inviting the wider community to experience Latin culture from the students' perspective. Key attractions include a display of cars decorated by students and the community to represent 21 different Spanish-speaking countries, featuring adornments such as traditional dress, crafts, and artwork. Attendees can enjoy traditional music and dancing, as well as a variety of foods from different Hispanic cultures, including offerings from student entrepreneurs, tamales, and a corn and chocolate drink. The event, which is in its second year, will also feature carnival games, adding to the festive atmosphere just before the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
