Jamaica Rising Diaspora Road March and Cultural Festival 2026

The Jamaica Rising Diaspora Road March and Cultural Festival 2026 took place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Brooklyn, New York. Originally conceived as the first Jamaica Day Parade in Brooklyn, the event was reimagined as a community-centered cultural celebration aimed at uniting the Jamaican diaspora and building momentum towards Jamaica’s 65th anniversary of Independence in 2027. It served as a standalone U.S. parade dedicated exclusively to Jamaican heritage, culture, music, and food, breaking away from multi-nation models.

The festival commenced with a road march that began at Flatbush Avenue and Church Avenue (Bob Marley Boulevard), culminating in a vibrant Street Festival and Dance Experience at Ronald McNair Park. The march featured three signature county floats representing Jamaica’s historic counties: Cornwall, Middlesex, and Surrey, accompanied by various alumni associations, cultural organizations, and diaspora groups.

Attendees enjoyed a rich program including reggae and dancehall music, authentic Jamaican food, diverse cultural showcases, and community engagement opportunities. Singer Nadine Sutherland served as a grand marshal for the inaugural parade, which was reported as a huge success despite being shortened due to overwhelming attendance, fostering pride and unity within the diaspora.
