Celebration honoring Keith Haring's legacy

The event also featured a reading for children by Kay Haring from her book, "Keith Haring: The Boy Who Kept on Drawing," which honors her brother's contributions during his lifetime.

Keith Haring, a Kutztown native who passed away at age 30, gained international recognition for his graffiti-inspired chalk drawings in New York City. His distinctive artwork, characterized by bold colors and energized figures, served as a powerful medium to advocate for AIDS awareness, environmentalism, and racial equality. Governor Shapiro highlighted Haring's dedication to the LGBTQ+ community and AIDS research, noting that Haring's work remains on display worldwide, including at the Governor's Residence. This event was presented as the latest installment of a lecture series hosted at the Governor's Residence.
