New York Bangla Film Festival

The New York Bangla Film Festival is an annual multi-day event dedicated to showcasing and celebrating Bangla cinema, held from July 30 to August 2 in New York. The festival, jointly organized by Priyojon Films and Lemon Studio, includes screenings of a diverse range of films from Bangladesh.

Attendees can expect to see various film genres, including short films such as “Bilai”, “Ishpite”, “The Internal Journey”, “American Dream”, and “Eid Mubarak”. Documentaries like “Concert for Bangladesh” are also featured, alongside feature films including “Noya Manush”, “Deyaler Desh”, “Bishwas Koren Bhai”, and Prasun Rahman’s “Shekor”. The festival concludes with a closing ceremony on August 2 at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center, where veteran Bangladeshi actor Ahmed Sharif will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to Bangla cinema. The ceremony will also present awards across 20 categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress, recognizing achievements in Bangla cinema from 2023 to 2025, and bringing together filmmakers and cultural personalities from the Bangladeshi diaspora.
