Blessing of the Water

The Blessing of the Water is a religious ceremony scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, commemorating the Feast of the Assumption. The event commences after an 8 a.m. Mass, with participants traveling to Cape May Lighthouse Park for the traditional blessing of the water.

Organized by St. Joseph Church, the event includes a bus trip for attendees. Following the blessing at the lighthouse park, the bus will transport participants to the Welcome Center in Cape May. Here, individuals have the opportunity to engage in various activities such as guided trolley tours, shopping at the Washington Street Mall, or visiting the beach. The return bus departs from the Welcome Center at 3:30 p.m., making a stop at Rosie’s Farm Market on the way home.
