Good Trouble Lives On: Teach, Preach and Reach Series

The Good Trouble Lives On: Teach, Preach and Reach Series is a three-day cultural event held in Natchez, Mississippi, from Friday, July 18, to Sunday, July 20, 2026. Local residents, including members of the area Blue and White Phamilies and Friends for Democracy, are hosting this series as part of a nationwide "Good Trouble Lives On" effort. The events aim to raise awareness about attacks on civil and human rights and to encourage voter registration, inspired by the legacy of Congressman John Lewis.

The series includes a variety of public activities. On Friday, July 18, a candlelight vigil is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Encore Event Venue, located at 49 E. Franklin St. The following day, Saturday, July 19, a voter education and registration event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, also at the Encore Event Venue. The series concludes on Sunday, July 20, with a community worship service starting at 11 a.m. at Forest Aid Baptist Church, 557 Lower Woodville Road, led by the Rev. Joe Logan.

This initiative is rooted in the legacy of the civil rights movement and draws inspiration from John Lewis's call to make "good trouble, necessary trouble." Participants will gather to demand an end to authoritarian attacks on fundamental freedoms, including the right to vote, protest, and organize, while standing united against efforts to criminalize communities, roll back rights, and reduce vital public programs.
