Midland County Fair

The Midland County Fair serves as a major regional attraction in West Texas, bringing approximately 25,000 visitors to the Horseshoe complex over four days. Now in its 16th year, the event is managed by a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding scholarships for students pursuing agricultural careers. The fairground features more than 30 distinct attractions, including a full-scale carnival, a vendor marketplace, a food truck court, and various agricultural displays.

A significant portion of the fair is dedicated to community participation through numerous contests. Attendees can compete in a variety of categories such as a fashion show, a high-stakes karaoke competition, a community talent search, and a singer/songwriter showcase. Creative arts are also a focal point, with exhibitions for photography, quilting, and culinary projects, including a popular pie baking contest where the top winner receives an engraved rolling pin.

Specialized programming highlights both regional culture and high-action sports. A notable Sunday tradition is the Charro Extravaganza, which features traditional Mexican horsemanship, roping, and equestrian ballet accompanied by Ballet Folklórico performances. Other weekend highlights include the Chase Quine Memorial Bull Ride, professional wrestling matches, garden tractor pulls, and a pet parade, concluding with live concerts featuring tribute acts and regional music genres.
