DROOP Canvas Open Studio Session

The DROOP Canvas Open Studio Session is an interactive cultural event curated by DROOP Canvas, designed as a celebration of art, culture, creativity, and community. Scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 2026, it will be held at The Emin Pasha Hotel in Nakasero, Kampala. This quarterly initiative aims to move art beyond traditional gallery spaces, fostering an environment for artists and audiences to interact, learn, create, and share experiences.

The event is set to feature a diverse array of activities, including a pop-up art exhibition, a vendor marketplace, and unique experiences like Paint & Sip, live demonstrations, and tattoo sessions. Guests can also look forward to live painting and various performances, alongside networking opportunities. Further engagement is offered through panels, brand activations, creative workshops, games, seminars, and fireside chats, blending entertainment with learning.

Bringing together visual artists, fashion designers, photographers, sculptors, poets, performers, and other cultural practitioners from Uganda and the wider region, the session also serves as a platform for creatives to showcase their work. According to Evans Kiiza, Team Lead and Curator at DROOP Canvas, the initiative strengthens the East African creative economy and fosters international artistic dialogue, connecting individuals and communities through the joy of creative arts.
