25th Annual Family Walk and Breakfast -Tobago Edition

The 25th Annual Family Walk and Breakfast -Tobago Edition was held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Scarborough, Trinidad and Tobago. Organized by the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) in partnership with the Division of Health and Wellness and the Breastfeeding Association of Trinidad and Tobago (TBATT), the event commemorated World Breastfeeding Week 2026 with the theme “Strengthen What Works!”. The occasion gathered representatives from the TRHA Board, executive management and staff, health officials, TBATT, community stakeholders, and families.

The day's activities commenced with a lively walk through the streets of Scarborough, led by the Boys’ Brigade, whose musical accompaniment has been a tradition since the inaugural walk in Tobago in 2001. Following the walk, participants enjoyed breakfast at the Scarborough Library Facility before moving on to formal proceedings. Speakers encouraged stakeholders to build on successful initiatives that support mothers and families throughout their breastfeeding journey, emphasizing the importance of family support, including fathers, and challenging organizations to create more breastfeeding-friendly spaces.

Key highlights included the announcement of the Stephanie Charles Legacy Challenge Trophy, designed to recognize health centers demonstrating high client engagement through district health visitors and patient education. The event also featured the presentation of awards for the 2026 Best Breastfed Baby Competition, which saw three babies share first place. This annual gathering reaffirms the commitment of the TRHA, DHW, and TBATT to promoting breastfeeding and fostering supportive environments for mothers, babies, and families.
