15th Thai Silk Festival

The 15th Thai Silk Festival serves as a major tribute to Her Majesty the Queen, specifically marking her fourth-cycle birthday anniversary. Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the event aims to elevate Thai silk craftsmanship on a global stage. Central to the festival are various competitions focusing on traditional costume design, contemporary fashion, and innovative silk patterns, featuring hundreds of students from across Thailand.

Key programmed events occur at different landmark venues in Bangkok. On June 6, an honorary fashion show featuring Thai Cabinet members, diplomats, and international representatives takes place at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall. This is followed by a public exhibition of design entries and an official awards ceremony held at Siam Paragon on June 9. The festival highlights international cooperation, with over 90 countries participating in unique design projects.

A significant aspect of the festival is its connection to local artisans. The silk used throughout the event is sourced from the SUPPORT Foundation, which directly benefits weaving communities throughout the country. By pairing international dignitaries with vocational students to create custom silk garments, the festival promotes both cultural exchange and the sustainable development of Thailand's textile industry.
