Celebrating its 125th year, the Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival 2026 showcases the artistry of Isan wax carving through massive, intricate floats depicting Buddhist lore. The main festivities occur from July 28 to 30 at Thung Si Mueang, starting with the gathering of candles followed by grand processions. This year introduces four night-time presentations, including a unique glowing scented-candle float and projection mapping light shows that bring local history to life.

Beyond traditional elements, the festival features modern landmarks such as illuminated sculptures of the 'Nong Mamuang' character and interactive art spaces. Visitors can participate in hands-on wax carving and moulding workshops from July 25 to 30. Following the main parade, award-winning floats remain on display at Thung Si Mueang until August 1 before moving to Wat Phra That Nong Bua for an extended exhibition alongside local OTOP craft markets through August 17.
