Pakistan Independence Day is a significant national holiday, celebrated every year on August 14 to mark the nation's independence from British rule in 1947. Festivities begin with special prayers for the country's peace and prosperity. Official observances include a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals, followed by flag-hoisting ceremonies at government buildings and the performance of the national anthem.

Across the country, citizens actively participate in public gatherings and cultural events. In Karachi, a ceremonial change of guards occurs at Mazar-e-Quaid, while Lahore sees large crowds at Greater Iqbal Park and Liberty Chowk, often featuring car rallies.
