Lahore marks Pakistan's 79th Independence Day with an extensive 14-day schedule of public events designed to foster national pride. The celebrations began on August 9 with bicycle and motorbike rallies and continue through August 23. Key attractions include a large-scale laser show at Town Hall and decorative illuminations throughout the provincial capital. Major public gatherings featuring musical concerts and professional artists are centered at Liberty Chowk, while midnight fireworks are held at five primary locations including Greater Iqbal Park, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and the Liberty Roundabout.

Educational and cultural programming is a central pillar of the event, with the National History Museum hosting multi-generational panel discussions on the 1947 Partition and dramatic readings of historical correspondence. The museum also offers special night tours and a community digitization station for preserving family archives. For sports enthusiasts, the Nishtar Park Sports Complex hosts various tournaments in karate, wrestling, and powerlifting, culminating in the National Squash Championship.
