India’s 80th Independence Day Celebration

The Indian Social Club Oman (ISC Oman) hosted a grand celebration to mark India’s 80th Independence Day in Muscat. The event was attended by high-profile guests, including the Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Shri Prashant Pise, who served as the Chief Guest. The festivities emphasized the theme of unity in diversity, reflecting the strong spirit of the Indian community abroad.

Cultural activities formed the core of the program, featuring a medley of patriotic songs by the Muscat Singers and an array of folk performances. These displays were presented by 16 Linguistic Wings of the ISC, each representing different regional traditions of India. Additionally, the Rangrez artists' group organized an art exhibition at the venue, showcasing creative works by community members.

A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 'Indian of the Year' award to Balwinder Singh in recognition of his decades of philanthropic service. The event also commemorated the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram,' acknowledging its historical importance in the Indian freedom movement.
