Omani Traditional Games Season 2026

Organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Omani Traditional Games Season 2026 takes place at Al-Dahariz Beach in Salalah during the peak of the Khareef Dhofar season. The three-day program focuses on promoting cultural awareness and sporting heritage by introducing visitors to Oman's ancestral methods of play. The event serves as a platform to revitalize local communities and attract tourists to the Dhofar Governorate through interactive heritage activities that bridge the gap between generations.

A central component of the season is a tournament featuring six clubs from the Dhofar region, including Al-Nasr, Salalah, Mirbat, Taqah, and Al-Ittihad. These clubs compete in three specific games cataloged in the traditional games book, utilizing either a group stage or league format. Each participating team consists of eight players, supported by a coach and manager, emphasizing the structured preservation of these cultural sports.

Beyond the competitive matches, the event offers various educational and recreational sections for the public. Visitors can access an interactive field area to experience the games firsthand, view a mini-exhibition of photographs and explanatory notes, or attend a refereeing workshop for traditional Omani sports. These activities are designed to create an engaging environment for families while ensuring that national identity and traditional practices are passed on to future generations.
