Anyama Fe Atei Oge festival

The Anyama Fe Atei Oge festival is a significant cultural event in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area that honors the history and safety of the Anyama Ijaw people. The tradition originated in 1967 following a miraculous event during the Nigerian Civil War where community members remained unharmed during a military skirmish. Elders established August 1 as a day of remembrance, which has since evolved into a comprehensive seven-day cultural showcase.

Throughout the week, the community hosts various traditional sports and displays. Highlights include a colorful boat regatta, canoe races, and traditional wrestling competitions.
