Turn Up for Democracy Festival

Organized by the Movement for the Transformation of Nigeria (MOTION) in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and ActionAid Nigeria, the festival serves as a pilot program to address low voter turnout in the Federal Capital Territory. The event specifically targets young Nigerians, offering a relaxed environment for them to engage with the democratic process while enjoying live performances.

The festival features a variety of creative arts, including music, comedy, dance, and spoken word poetry. Beyond the entertainment, a dedicated INEC Voter Services Desk is available on-site, allowing attendees to register as new voters, transfer existing registrations, or apply for replacement Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Organizers emphasize that the initiative is part of a broader campaign to reach grassroots communities through town hall meetings and community theatre. Security for the event is coordinated with the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to ensure a safe environment for all participants.
