Works on display include paintings by Sri Lankan artists Sarath Gunasiri Perera, T.P.G. Amarajeewa, K.D. Lakshman, and Chaminda Gamage, alongside Maldivian artists Afzal Shaafiu, Ahamed Anil, Ahameed Azmee, and Hussain Ali Manik.

The opening ceremony on September 10, 2026, drew wide participation, including Maldivian government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, Sri Lankan and Maldivian artists, and art enthusiasts. Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, Mohamed Rizvi Hassen, emphasized that the exhibition serves not only as an opportunity to appreciate contemporary art but also as a celebration of the cultural and artistic ties between the two countries, strengthening mutual understanding through shared creative expressions.

Following its presentation in Malé, plans are underway to bring the ‘Colombo–Malé’ exhibition to Sri Lanka. This initiative aims to further expand cultural exchanges and enable Sri Lankan audiences to experience the richness of Maldivian artistic practices.
