Vestiges of the Cucuteni–Trypillia Culture from the Republic of Moldova

This exhibition presents an integrated display of archaeological artifacts from the Cucuteni-Trypillia civilization, one of Europe's significant prehistoric cultures which flourished between the 5th and 3rd millennia BC across modern-day Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine. Visitors can explore items such as beautifully painted ceramics, anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figurines, and tools made from flint, stone, bone, and antler. Copper pieces and dwelling fragments with constructive and decorative elements will also be on view.

Many of the artifacts on display are being presented for the first time, having been recovered from various archaeological sites including Florești, Rogojeni, and Cărbuna. The exhibition aims to illustrate the chronological and functional evolution of the Cucuteni culture, providing insights into the social organization, beliefs, and relationship between humans and their environment during Eastern Europe's prehistory. It is part of the European Heritage Days 2026 program and supports the integration of Moldova's archaeological heritage into the European cultural circuit, contributing to efforts for UNESCO World Heritage List inscription and certification of the Transnational Cucuteni-Trypillia Cultural Route.
