“A Symphony of Heritage” charity concert

The “A Symphony of Heritage” charity concert took place on September 19 at the Lao National Culture Hall in Vientiane, attracting over 1,000 attendees. The event showcased an orchestra of more than 40 musicians, who performed 10 well-known Lao classical songs re-arranged for an orchestral setting by Master Alounyadeth Ratsahody.

Hosted by The Pianist Vientiane, the concert also featured Swiss violinist Mathias Boegner, who presented a solo performance that blended Western classical music with traditional Lao musical elements, including the khaen. The concert provided a rare opportunity to experience Lao traditional music in an orchestral format.

All proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships were designated to purchase new musical instruments for students at the National College of Arts. This initiative aims to provide students with more opportunities for hands-on practice and to support the development of future generations of Lao musicians and artists.
