Abai Day Celebrations

The celebrations encompass a wide range of activities hosted in major cities and regional centers. In Almaty, the 'Abai Alemi' (World of Abai) musical and poetry evening serves as a primary attraction, often accompanied by documentary film premieres and theatrical performances. The capital city, Astana, typically hosts forums for young writers, while the National Museum and the Abylkhan Kasteyev National Museum of Arts organize thematic tours and art lessons dedicated to the poet's life and influence.

In the Abai region, the festivities take on a more traditional and athletic character, featuring the 'Abai Joly' 100-mile ultramarathon and national aitys (poetry competitions). Other regions, including Shymkent, participate through public 'Abai Readings,' concerts, and educational projects.
