Summer Tides

Summer Tides is recognized as one of Africa’s largest annual beach music festivals. Founded in 2019 by Kenyan entrepreneur and DJ Kasey, the event began as a student-focused gathering and has since evolved into a large-scale production by Airbeat Global. The 2026 edition, held from July 2 to 4, marked the first time the festival was hosted in Malindi, moving from its previous coastal locations to the Lost Beach Club.

The festival program is centered on an extensive lineup of DJs and entertainers. The 2026 event featured three days of music with performers such as Joe Mfalme, Tina Ardor, G Money, Suraj, and Creme de la Creme. Activities extend beyond the stage to include beach games, water sports, and sunset sessions, supported by on-site food courts and beach bars.

Operating under the #SayNoToLowSeason campaign, Summer Tides is strategically scheduled during Kenya's low tourism period to provide a commercial boost to local hotels, restaurants, and traders. While the event draws massive crowds and stimulates the local economy in the Kilifi, Watamu, and Malindi areas, the high turnout has historically led to challenges regarding accommodation availability and local infrastructure capacity.
