The festival takes place over three days during the weekend preceding the Respect for the Aged Day holiday. On Friday, visitors can observe formal Shinto prayer ceremonies and view traditional festival decorations and dress. The atmosphere highlights local heritage and religious customs specific to this historic area of Yokohama.

A major highlight occurs on Sunday with the joint neighborhood mikoshi (portable shrine) procession. Starting around 9:00 AM, participants carry the heavy shrines through the Yokohamabashi and Idai-dōri shopping streets. Later in the afternoon, around 5:00 PM, a concluding ceremony is typically held at the Ikezaki shopping street.

The event is held at the O-Sannomiya Hie Shrine in Yokohama, which is distinct from the well-known Hie Shrine located in Akasaka, Tokyo.
