Makuhari Beach Fireworks Festival 2026

The Makuhari Beach Fireworks Festival 2026 is a significant cultural event taking place on August 1, 2026, at Makuhari Beach in Chiba, Japan. This year's festival holds special importance as it commemorates the 900th anniversary of Chiba's founding.

As one of the country's largest fireworks displays, the event features over 20,000 fireworks launched from various angles across Makuhari Beach. More than 4,000 of these will be sent over the ocean, creating shimmering reflections. The display includes traditional, musical, and special effects fireworks, some reaching up to 150 meters in diameter. The fireworks show is scheduled to run for one hour, from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The festival area at Makuhari Seaside Park will open from 4:30 p.m., with the Messe Parking Lot accessible from 4 p.m. Tickets for the 2026 edition went on sale on May 22, offering eight viewing areas and 12 ticket types, including options for groups, pairs, and wheelchair accessibility. Prices range from ¥2,500 to ¥50,000. The festival grounds will also host various food, drink, and souvenir stands. Residents of Chiba have the opportunity to apply for free seats until May 19, 2026. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport, with Kaihin Makuhari Station (JR Keiyō line) being the closest, approximately a 20-minute walk from the event area.
