Katsushika Fireworks Festival

The Katsushika Fireworks Festival, also known as the Katsushika Noryo Fireworks Festival, is a staple of Tokyo’s summer pyrotechnic calendar. Scheduled for July 28, 2026, the event features one of the city's most dense displays, with about 20,000 fireworks launched in relatively close proximity to the audience. This proximity creates a powerful and immersive experience that has made it a favorite for both locals and tourists.

The festival is staged at the Shibamata Baseball Ground along the banks of the Edogawa River, a short 10-minute walk from Keisei Shibamata Station. Because of its popularity, the event attracts roughly 800,000 spectators, filling the riverside area. While there are free viewing spaces available for those who arrive early, the festival also offers organized paid seating on vinyl sheets for groups of two to six people.

Ticketing for the event typically begins in June, with Katsushika City residents often receiving early access via a lottery system. The display provides a traditional Japanese summer experience (hanabi) in a historic neighborhood, blending modern pyrotechnics with a classic riverside festival setting.
