Courtney ‘Ricky’ Gordon Youth Football Festival

The Courtney ‘Ricky’ Gordon Youth Football Festival is an annual two-day football tournament taking place in Maverly, St Andrew, Jamaica. The third edition is set for Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, 2026. This event is dedicated to honoring the late Courtney ‘Ricky’ Gordon, a celebrated football legend from Maverly/Hughenden FC and Meadowbrook High.

The festival includes competitive football matches for Under 13 and Under 15 teams, with participation from communities such as Duhaney Park, Cooreville Gardens, Maverly, Hughenden, and Pembrook Hall. Additionally, there will be a Masters league clash featuring Maverly Invitational against Christian Ambassadors. The tournament is organized by Rupert "Putt" Williams, with activities beginning at 10 AM on Saturday and 12 PM on Sunday.

A significant part of the festival involves recognizing individuals who have contributed to the community and achieved academic success. This year’s honorees are expected to include legendary youth football coach Leebert Halliman, Olympian John Mair, legendary dancehall pioneer Sassa Frass, Reverend Raymond Coke, and teacher of the year Nadine Lawrence. Successful students from Maverly/Hughenden who excelled in the Pep examinations will also be celebrated.
