Spirit of Tibet festival

Held at the Kamala Devi Centre within the India International Centre (IIC), the Spirit of Tibet festival serves as both a celebration and a preservation effort for Tibetan culture. The event features an array of traditional arts and crafts, including wood carving and carpet weaving demonstrated by graduates of the Norbulingka Institute and members of the Tibetan Women’s Centre. The festival's theme, 'Celebrating Culture and Compassion,' is reflected in its diverse programming which bridges historical traditions with contemporary artistic expressions.

Key attractions include calligraphy demonstrations where monks showcase various Tibetan scripts, emphasizing the importance of written language in cultural survival. The festival also hosts an exhibition by the Khadhok artists' collective, featuring diverse works from oil paintings to satirical digital games designed to teach Tibetan vocabulary. In addition to the arts, the event includes a focus on history and advocacy, with stalls organized by the Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group where visitors can learn about the challenges facing the Tibetan people and write messages of support.
